So you’ve done the walking tour thing, you’ve been on a tour bus a thousand times, and audio tours just aren’t for you. Where do you go from here? Because so much is going on in Berlin the more orthodox modes of touring – particularly when contrasted with a city of such vibrancy and ingenuity – seems a little dull. After all, a unique city should be journeyed in an equally unique way right? Cue KayakBerlinTours, who offer an exciting and (you guessed it) water based alternative for your visit to Berlin, giving you that great outdoors feeling whilst being right at the centre of an urban hub.

Advantages at a glance
  • Small groups (no more than ten) for a more intimate tour experience.
  • State-of-the-art equipment (kayaks, life jackets, spray decks) so the fun element is not compromised by the safe one.
  • Bilingual guidance, in both German and English from start to finish.
  • It gives your feet a rest after all that walking, and is a great way to tone those arms!
  • Feel at one with nature in a tranquil setting as you meander through the city’s waterways and absorb the sights Berlin has to offer.
  • The learning whilst exercising combo gives you the best of both worlds, but isn’t too strenuous because you move at a leisurely pace.

What we love about KayakBerlinTours is first and foremost the unique perspective of the urban landscape it provides from the water. Secondly, with tour guides like Katharina and Tom on hand to provide a fascinating commentary of both the architectural highlights and the hidden treasures even most Berlin natives are unaware of, this charming little excursion along the Spree and Landwehrkanal may just be the best idea you have all holiday.

Why else choose KayakBerlinTours?
  • KayakBerlinTours offer guided tours along the rivers of Berlin providing a safe yet entertaining experience.
  • Equipment – KayakTours use state-of-the-art German built kayaks with the most reliable safety equipment. With a steering device, water-tight baggage room, spray cover and waterproofs at hand in case of rain, you’re fully protected whatever the weather.
  • Helpful staff – the guides helps you to put the boats into the water and assists with any other manual bits and pieces as you enter the waterways of Berlin – all the while providing a fascinating narrative of the surrounding area.
  • There is a tour to suit every taste. The West Tour leads you through the centre of Berlin, the East Tour passes through its hippest parts, the Night Tour is a great way to get ready for the nightlife of Kreuzkölln while the Potsdam Tour is for those who appreicate the romantic heritage of the Prussian kings.

A little quote on the website from tour-guide Tom sums things up pretty nicely:

“When you are paddling, you soon get the incomparable feeling that you’re at the centre of the city and at the same time really far away outdoors – in a very unique place. You get to be outside whatever the weather, and feel safe and move ahead with your own powers, whilst seeing totally new things. Back on the land, the world suddenly appears differently”
