Potsdam is just a 45-minute train ride away from the center of Berlin, yet when you go there, you get the sense that you’re venturing into a completely new and different world. Potsdam is by far the most popular destination for a day trip from Berlin, and for good reason, too.

If you take a closer look at the list of points of interest, landmarks, and gardens in Potsdam, it won’t be long before you start thinking: “I want to see every single thing on this list, but that will never work; I just don’t have enough time.” It’s true that Potsdam, in addition to having a somewhat dream-like aura about it, is very spread-out and spacious, and the sights worth seeing are often located kilometers apart. But don’t worry – you’ll find the solution to all of your problems in Potsdam per Pedales, the leading bike rental company in the city, with rental centers located directly at Potsdam Bahnhof (train station) and at the S-Bahn Station Griebnitzsee.

At Potsdam per Pedales, it all got started 15 years ago, with the idea of offering guided tours of the city by bike. Since that time, the company’s list of offerings has grown steadily, and become increasingly diverse. Today, visitors to Potsdam can take their pick from a huge fleet of high-end rental bikes, audio guides can be rented to enhance the experience, and a wide selection of guided tours is also available. In addition, at the S-Bahn Station Griebnitzsee, the company runs a fully-equipped kayak station, providing guided canoe tours, all of which can be booked in advance. The friendly, well-informed staff always looks forward to welcoming visitors, and is especially happy to have the opportunity share its passion and enthusiasm for Potsdam and the surrounding area with customers.

The advantages of Potsdam per Pedales, at a glance
  • Two separate rental centers. The first is located at Potsdam Bahnhof, directly on the S-Bahn platform, and the second at Griebnitzsee S-Bahn Station (a stop on the S7 line). For a nominal fee, you’re also allowed to return your rental bike to a different rental center than the one at which you picked it up.
  • In addition to a bike, you can also rent an audio guide, complete with extensive information about 24 noteworthy station stops.
  • The Royal Tour. On this guided tour, lasting 4 hours, you’ll learn all there is to know about Potsdam’s cultural highlights.
  • Numerous additional tours of the surrounding area, as well as canoe rentals, are available.
  • You can choose from a wide selection of bicycles, with varying speeds. There are even cargo bikes and tandems available, so you’re sure to find one that suits you.
  • Children’s bikes, children’s bike saddles, and child-carrying bike trailers are offered, making this a great idea for a family outing.
  • You get more for your money at Potsdam per Pedales. Bike locks and baskets are provided, free of charge.
  • A map, showing Potsdam’s bike paths, is also included in the price of your rental. Maps are easy to read and feature numerous route suggestions.

When you take into account all of these advantages, it really doesn’t make sense to look anywhere else, does it? Potsdam per Pedales certainly has us convinced.

How does the bike rental work?

No advanced booking is necessary when renting bikes, except if you are traveling as part of a large group, or are in need of specific equipment, such as children’s bikes or bike saddles. In this case, you should be sure to contact Potsdam per Pedales in advance.

Guests are allocated a bike, and provided with a map of suggested routes, on location at the rental centers at Potsdam Bahnhof or S-Bahn Station Griebnitzsee.

A complete price list, as well as information about the individual bikes, can be found on the website.
